1 kg chicken, cut into pieces

2 cups plain yogurt

1 large onion, chopped

4 cloves garlic, minced

2-inch piece of ginger, grated

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

1 teaspoon coriander seeds

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 teaspoon garam masala

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder

1/2 teaspoon chili powder (optional)

Salt, to taste

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes.

Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer until the chicken is cooked through, about 30 minutes.

Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
