Aloo Puri recipe


Aloo Puri is a popular North Indian breakfast dish that consists of deep-fried puffed bread (puri) served with a spicy potato (aloo) curry. Here's how to make it:


Ingredients for Aloo Curry:


3 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed

1 onion, chopped

1 tomato, chopped

1 tsp ginger paste

1 tsp garlic paste

1 green chili, chopped

1/2 tsp cumin seeds

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp red chili powder

1 tsp coriander powder

Salt to taste

2 tbsp oil

2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves for garnish

Ingredients for Puri:


2 cups whole wheat flour

Salt to taste

Water for kneading

Oil for deep frying

Instructions:


To make the Aloo curry, heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.


Add chopped onions and green chili and sauté until onions become translucent.


1minute cook after adding  ginger-garlic paste.


Sauté the diced tomatoes until they become soft.


Combine the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Cook for 2-3 minutes after well mixing.


Mix in the mashed potatoes and spices thoroughly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.


Add the 1-2 cup of water to achieve the desired consistency. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes.


Set aside and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.


To make the Puri, take whole wheat flour in a bowl, add salt and knead the dough by adding water slowly.

Let the dough to rest for 15-20 minutes, covered.

Take small balls from the dough and roll them into thin circles.


Heat oil in a deep frying pan and deep fry the puris until they turn golden brown.


Serve hot with aloo curry and enjoy your delicious Aloo Puri breakfast!


Note: You can also serve Aloo Puri with pickle, chutney or yogur
