Masala Pav recipe

 


Masala Pav is a popular street food in India, especially in Mumbai. Here is a simple recipe for Masala Pav:


Ingredients:


6 pav buns

2 medium-sized onions, finely chopped

1 medium-sized tomato, finely chopped

1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste

1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder

1/2 teaspoon cumin powder

1/2 teaspoon coriander powder

1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder

2 tablespoons butter

Salt to taste

Coriander leaves, finely chopped (for garnishing)

Instructions:


Heat a pan and add 2 tablespoons of butter to it. Once the butter has melted, add the finely chopped onions and sauté till they turn translucent.


Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute or till the raw smell disappears.


Cook the finely chopped tomatoes until they are soft and mushy.

Add all the dry spices – turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and salt to taste. Mix prourperly and cook for a some minute.


Add a little water to the pan and let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes.


Take the pav buns and slit them in half horizontally, but not all the way through.


Toast the pav buns in a pan or on a tawa with a little butter until they are lightly golden brown.


Dip the toasted pav buns in the masala mixture and coat them well on both sides.


Serve hot, garnished with chopped coriander leaves.


Your Masala Pav is ready to be served!
