Chicken Curry Recipe

 


Popular cuisine chicken curry hails from the Indian subcontinent and has since spread to many regions of the globe. Usually, it comprises of chicken that has been cooked in a delicious sauce that has been infused with a variety of spices and other ingredients. Depending on the locale and cultural influences, the precise ingredients for chicken curry can vary widely, but some standard components include onion, garlic, ginger, tomato, coconut milk, and a mixture of spices like cumin, coriander, turmeric, and garam masala.


Ingredients:

1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces

1 large onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger

1 tablespoon curry powder

1/2 teaspoon turmeric

1/2 teaspoon cumin

1/2 teaspoon coriander

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)

1 can (14 oz.) diced tomatoes, undrained

1 can (13.5 oz.) coconut milk

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh cilantro leaves, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions:


Large pot or Dutch oven heated to medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, or until browned all over. Chicken should be taken out of the pan and put aside.


Cook the onion, ginger, and garlic in the same pan for three to five minutes, or until the onion is transparent.


Stir together the curry powder, paprika, turmeric, cumin, coriander, and cayenne pepper (if using) before adding them to the pan.


Stir to blend before adding the diced tomatoes and their liquids.


Once more, add the chicken to the pan and stir in the tomato and spice mixture to coat.


Add the coconut milk, then whisk everything together.

Large pot or Dutch oven heated to medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, or until browned all over. Chicken should be taken out of the pan and put aside.


The combination should simmer for ten to fifteen minutes, or until the chicken is thoroughly cooked and the sauce has slightly thickened.

To taste, add salt and pepper to the food.

If preferred, top with chopped cilantro leaves and serve hot over cooked rice.
