poha recipe

Poha, also known as flattened rice or beaten rice, is a popular Indian breakfast or snack made with flattened rice flakes, vegetables, and spices. Here's a recipe for poha:

Ingredients:

1 cup poha (flattened rice)

1 tablespoon oil

1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds

1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds

1/4 teaspoon asafoetida

1-2 green chillies, finely chopped

1/2 cup finely chopped onions

1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes

1/2 cup boiled and peeled green peas (optional)

Salt to taste

1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

1/4 cup roasted peanuts

1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leaves

Lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions:

Rinse the poha in a colander with running water until soft. Drain and set aside the water.

In a pan, heat the oil and add the mustard seeds.. Once they start spluttering, add cumin seeds and asafoetida.

Add finely chopped green chillies and onions. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onions turn translucent.

Add finely chopped tomatoes and boiled green peas (if using). Sauté for another 2-3 minutes until the tomatoes are slightly cooked.

Add salt to taste and turmeric powder. Mix well.

Add the rinsed poha to the pan and mix gently to combine.

Cover the pan with a lid and let it cook on low heat for 5-7 minutes.

Remove the lid and add roasted peanuts and finely chopped coriander leaves. Mix gently to combine.

Garnish with lemon wedges and serve hot.

Your delicious poha is ready to be served! Enjoy as a breakfast or a snack.
