Chicken 65 is a popular South Indian appetizer made with boneless chicken that is marinated in a spicy mixture and deep-fried until crispy. Here is a recipe to make Chicken 65 at home

Ingredients:

1 lb boneless chicken pieces, cut into bite-sized pieces

1 tsp ginger garlic paste

1 tsp red chili powder

1 tsp cumin powder

1 tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp garam masala powder

1 tsp black pepper powder

1 tsp salt

2 tbsp cornflour

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 egg

1 tbsp lemon juice

Oil, for frying

For the sauce:

2 tbsp oil

1 tbsp ginger garlic paste

2 green chilies, finely chopped

1 sprig curry leaves

1/2 tsp red chili powder

1/2 tsp cumin powder

1/2 tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp garam masala powder

Salt, to taste

2 tbsp tomato ketchup

1 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp vinegar

1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

Instructions:

In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken pieces with ginger garlic paste, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, black pepper powder, and salt. Mix well and let it marinate for 30 minutes.

In another mixing bowl, combine cornflour, all-purpose flour, egg, and lemon juice. Mix well to make a thick batter.

Dip the marinated chicken pieces into the batter, making sure they are fully coated.

Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Once the oil is hot, add the chicken pieces one by one, making sure they are not overcrowded. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-6 minutes. Remove from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

To make the sauce, heat 2 tbsp of oil in a separate pan. Add ginger garlic paste, green chilies, and curry leaves. Saute for a minute.

Add red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a minute.

Add tomato ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, and chopped coriander leaves. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add the fried chicken pieces to the sauce and toss well to coat them evenly.

Serve hot with lemon wedges and onion rings as garnish.

Enjoy your delicious Chicken 65!
